How it works

A PDF that arrives rotated the wrong way is inconvenient to read and frustrating to present. Scanned documents often come out sideways, especially when scanned quickly from a phone or a flatbed scanner in landscape mode. ToolPDFs Rotate PDF tool lets you rotate every page in a PDF by 90, 180, or 270 degrees and download the corrected file in seconds. The tool runs in your browser using the pdf-lib library. No file is uploaded to a server, so scanned passports, medical forms, signed agreements, and other sensitive documents stay on your device throughout the process.

Rotation is applied to all pages in the document at once. Choose 90 degrees to turn a landscape document to portrait, 180 degrees to flip an upside down scan, or 270 degrees to correct a document rotated to the left. The output PDF preserves all original content including text, images, and links.

Rotate PDF is free, requires no account, and works on any modern browser including mobile.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate individual pages instead of the whole document?

The current tool rotates all pages at once. To rotate only specific pages, use the Extract Pages from PDF tool to separate those pages, rotate them, then reassemble using the Merge PDF tool.

Is my PDF sent to a server when I rotate it?

No. pdf-lib processes the file entirely inside your browser. Your document never leaves your device.

What is the difference between 90 and 270 degrees?

90 degrees rotates the page clockwise. 270 degrees is the equivalent of 90 degrees counterclockwise. Use 90 to turn a landscape page to portrait with the bottom on the right, and 270 for the opposite orientation.

Will rotating the PDF affect the file size?

Rotation updates the page orientation metadata rather than re-rendering the content, so the file size changes very little.

Does this work on scanned PDFs?

Yes. Rotate PDF works on all standard PDF files including scanned documents. The rotation applies to the page canvas, not to an editable text layer.
